Getting Back


So who wants a wide back? That V tapered, the cobra back, Christmas tree, etc. Well whatever you like to call it, wouldn’t you like to say that you have it? People think you have to lose the fat around your waist to make your waist look smaller to make the back/shoulders looks bigger and wider. This is wrong, but not all wrong. Having a smaller waist will give the illusion of a wider bigger back but it won’t give it the V tapered look you’re looking for.

This is achieved by doing workouts that widen out the back and make the lats (latisimus dorsi) stick out, as well as incorporating a balanced mid and lower back workout.

Without further ado here are the workouts I personally do myself to achieve this V tapered back:

  • Deadlifts: 6 sets of 3
  • Wide grip pull ups: 3 sets to failure
  • Face pulls: 3 sets to failure
  • Lat pull down: 3 sets of 7
  • Back row machine: 3 sets of 7
  • Bent over dumbbell row: 3 sets of 7
  • 3/4 row: 3 sets of 7
